Northern Lights
No sound
As I look up into the once dark sky
Now lit
With swirls of blue and green
Twisting in and out
Of nothing it seems,
Reaching over pointed mountaintops,
And over the trees,
Directly into my eyes
Staining them with vibrant hues
Of the deepest violet
And the most intense blue
Like the horizon just before sunrise.
And in this moment I think,
The world is perfect,
And the war and the ecosystem,
And the kids and tomorrow's shopping list
Leave my mind.
I am stuck in this moment.
Where the colors
Twist in and out of the dark sky
Reaching out at me,
Making it impossible to look away.
