The Retarded Don’t Sing
A person would say
that the retarded don’t sing,
that their minds don’t work like ours.
But look into the mind of one such person,
and you see that they are wise
in ways of reading the human action,
picking up more from body language
than from words.
They know they’re different.
They can bury themselves in their own world,
or be an active part of yours.
In their minds, they are independent;
free spirits of positive attitude and strength,
happiness and laughter.
But what lies in their hearts is their song,
that doesn’t need to be sung for others;
just a song to live by
to say this is me.
