Melt Me Once More
You and I alone in a house made of ice. Our yard was the frozen tundra that stretched on forever, and we were at the end of that forever; the two of us to look out upon our existence through two small windows and an entry way with no door. The last man and woman, we turned to look at each other face to face, no more than a step apart.
My eyes found yours. I couldn’t move. I was captivated by the color of your irises, the perfect shade of turquoise icicles. They stuck me and I was left defenseless by the man I desired.
Then I held you up against the wall of our little ice house. I was sure that my body heat would keep you from freezing. I had enough fire for the both of us.
Your blue lips caught my attention. I wanted to warm them with a kiss. Petal to petal, my tongue met the gold ring in your lip. I tugged the ring, pulled it gently between my teeth.
Too much? What did I do wrong? You shoved me away, no backward glances. You braced your shoulders and clenched your jaw. Fists at your side, you walked through the doorway.
I watched you leave as the windows and door filled with ice.
